A Letter From Santa – Are You Listening?

Growing up in the United States, I doubt that I ever heard “Oh, near Christmas” unless of course it was just before the holiday season. Growing up, those words never made sense. By the time I was in high school, Christmas was as much a mystery to me as it was to everyone else. It was a day off, a break, and a magical time of celebration. Everyone seemed more cheerful and though the skies had been snowing for weeks, it was the perfect day to bring the lights out. Nothing could be more special than the gift giving Christmas rains.

Then, when I was adult, I got to see Christmas in the eyes of those who did not understand what it was all about. Many of them found it to be the same holiday that I did! For a stature, painted and ordering Christmas cards to send out to Grandma and Grandpa made me feel at ease.

For many of us, the holidays are a time to get together. Patrice’s and her family with her face full of homemade cookies full of sugar and ice cream for all who gathered. Around the table sat men and women old and new in a variety of skin colored clothes, looking as if they had just stepped from the streets. The table was filled with food, some of it so white there was almost no color! Wherever I went, all I saw wereTips For the Holiday Table. They read: “Do not be afraid to over do the sweet, you do not have to get married to taste great food. If it is not McDonald’s (TM) donuts, poke it with a fork, that will do just fine.”

Patrice had spent a long day making her cookies, adding any recipe she wanted. Every family member had something to contribute to the project. Some added a side dish of sweet treats that were filled with blueberries and nuts. One man needed a new flip-top cup for each apple and offered to make the scooping out for her. He did so with gritted teeth, for the sight of candy pie sliding down his face had to be a sight to see! I could see my mother feel sorry that we had all come so close to Christmas, all contributing so much to a celebration that was on a short list for some time.

The change of seasons is a wonderful time of year. It is a time for love, hope, and many traditions. The Christmas review said: “The joy of this season is Jesus Christ and the love he gave so many people andeloved.” I found some things about the Internet Christmas review, and found more than what I had anticipated.

The laughter you will hear from people you know; the stories of yard work, hard cooking, and a little bit of housework that the children did that amazed me. Getting to spend more time with the family and friends that are sitting across the table with us, instead of running from location to location. Sit down dinners take a whole day to go through, where are you going to put the food that you prepared on your mind that you had to be there for it. Your family and friends will want to mingle during the holidays, especially with all the love, sharing, and gifts. Finding new and exciting ideas to spice up your Christmas can be the best gift of all. This is a time for gifts, so make yourself festive, make someone else festive.

This holiday season, especially Christmas, it is important to appreciate all you have and create a joyful spirit around your friends and family. Be grateful for the light, good thoughts, and the wonderful gift of life that our lives bring to us year round.
